Building on our PUROO® small-scale wastewater treatment plant, we have succeeded in further increasing the efficiency of biological wastewater treatment with the PUROO® Complete system. The system combines existing SBR technology with additional aeration during the primary treatment stage, thereby creating optimal conditions for a stable and reliable treatment process.
Like the PUROO® system, the PUROO® Complete system operates according to the activated sludge principle using the sequencing batch reactor (SBR) process. In this process, the pollutants contained in the wastewater are absorbed and biologically degraded by suspended microorganisms, known as activated sludge. The resulting biomass is separated from the treated water during the subsequent treatment process. The treatment cycle is water-level-controlled and thus adapts to the actual volume of wastewater generated. This allows the system to respond flexibly to varying wastewater volumes and enables operation tailored to actual needs.
Aerated primary clarification for optimized sludge treatment
A distinctive feature of the PUROO® Complete system is the additional aeration of the primary clarification stage. While in conventional systems aeration takes place exclusively in the activated sludge tank, the PUROO® Complete also supplies oxygen to the primary clarification section. This initiates a biological process in this part of the system, which has a positive effect on the properties of the resulting sewage sludge.
The continuous supply of oxygen further breaks down and mineralizes carbon compounds in the sewage sludge. This reduces the sludge volume, which can result in longer intervals between required sludge removals. At the same time, the aerated primary treatment helps prevent the formation of digester gases and acids. This significantly reduces odor nuisance and also largely minimizes the risk of acid-induced concrete corrosion.
The additional aeration in the primary clarification stage thus not only offers advantages for the treatment process but can also contribute to long-term, uncomplicated, and low-maintenance operation of the plant.
Suitable for New Construction and Retrofits
The PUROO® Complete system can be used in both newly designed tanks and for retrofitting existing tanks. In many cases, no extensive structural modifications to the existing tank are required. The system technology is designed according to the existing tank configuration, enabling flexible adaptation to the specific on-site conditions.
Thanks to its compact and practical design, the PUROO® Complete is suitable for both custom-designed small wastewater treatment plants and for the modernization of existing plants. This allows for state-of-the-art biological wastewater treatment without having to fundamentally alter the existing tank.
